Ultra Sounding... Our Family Affair...

Life has kept us pretty busy... so much that I realized that the last time I updated anything on here was almost 2 years ago!  But as I was looking thru things I saw that we were getting ready to ultra sound heifers (those 2 years ago) and we are in the planning process of doing that again.  One thing that I love about our line of work is that our WHOLE family is involved - from daily chores, to working cattle, to harvest... you will see our girls out and involved in all of it!  
Back to Ultra Sounding... We do two big days a year of ultra sounding our cattle - one in March and usually one in August.  Our girls get to stay home from school and work right along with us (parents of the year last year - we scheduled it for the second day of school. whoops!)  They wake up before sun up, get their horses saddled, and head out with their dad to gather all the mommas.  Then once everything is caught they split up - two usually load cattle into the holding pen, one gets tags ready and organized, and the last one (the youngest) gets everybody in line;)  We pack lunches and spend the whole day there!  They take turns doing each thing and believe it or not... there usually isn't any fighting amongst them! 
We have been very fortunate to have had veterinarians who explain and involve our girls :)  and they have learned so much!  These past couple years they have gotten the chance to actually ultra sound the cows... something they now look forward to each year!  I had to share a couple pictures because their faces show it all!  

So needless to say... we are anxiously awaiting March 13th & 14th to get here!
